SATB chorus, piano, 2 drums (c. 5:00)

An extended piano introduction makes this piece an appropriate selection as a processional, or as music to fill the air during a re-staging of singers. The rhapsodic prologue that opens the piece gives way to an impassioned plea for freedom: “Let me go!” The ensemble is further amplified by the addition of two drums, which work with the piano to provide a percussive urgency to the music. The singers eventually get involved by stomping their feet—they’re no longer pleading for freedom, but demanding it.

This piece was awarded second-prize at the 43rd Annual Ithaca College Choral Composition Festival on February 11, 2023.
